Decca’s story – Volunteer Week 2018

Decca – CT Furniture Van Driver

We caught up with volunteer Decca who works at CT Furniture Bilston as a removal driver’s assistant.

“I came to CT Furniture when I lost my job during the credit crunch in 2008. At that point in time, I was having a hard time; my marriage broke down and when one of my band mates died, everything fell apart.

I loved being in the band, we were due to play with UB40 and had also been played on Beacon Radio, so when my band mate passed a way, on top of everything else, I was really deflated.

I’ve always liked to keep busy though and that’s what brought me to CT Furniture. The job has helped me fill in the gaps and although I do want a job, life’s too short to worry about it.  I’m happy working at CT Furniture because I get to meet people (staff and customers) who I can share my interests with, which is what I enjoy doing.”
